My friends and family know I'm developing my psychic abilities, and now they're constantly asking me for readings or advice. While I want to help, it can be draining. How do you set healthy boundaries with loved ones without offending them? What's your advice for managing this without feeling like you're "on" all the time?

Short answer: Yes—you can help and protect your energy. Treat readings with loved ones like any other professional skill: clear container, consent, and timing.

Set 3 simple policies
  1. Container: “No pop-up readings.” I only read by request + scheduled time.
  2. Frequency: “Family plan.” e.g., one reading per person per month (or quarter).
  3. Energy exchange: Free is fine within limits—otherwise book or trade (cook a meal, babysit, donate, etc.).

Kind scripts (save these)

  • In the moment (at dinner/party):
“I love you and want to give you my best. I don’t do spot readings—let’s book 30 minutes when I’m grounded. I’ve got Thursday at 7 or Saturday at 11—what’s better?”
  • When you’re tired:
“I’m off-duty right now, so I can stay healthy with this work. Message me and we’ll set a time.”
  • If they push:
“I hear this is important. My boundary is no readings outside my hours. Happy to schedule—otherwise I can send you a journaling prompt/card pull you can do yourself.”
  • Text message template:
“Hey! I don’t do instant reads by text. Send your question, and I’ll offer times this week. Thanks for understanding my boundary so I can show up well for you.”

I tell them....do you really want me to know your secrets...Think carefully before you ask....and if you want to go a head we need to make an appointment. As I will be paying it forward for you, what random act of kindness will you be doing?
