Why Do We Procrastinate? The Spiritual & Psychological Perspective
Procrastination isn’t just about laziness or lack of discipline—it’s often a subconscious resistance to change. Here are some of the deeper reasons why we procrastinate.
Fear of Failure (or Success!)
Sometimes, we’re afraid of not being good enough, while other times, we fear that if we succeed, life will change in ways we’re not ready for.
Perfectionism Paralysis
If you feel like things have to be “just right” before you start, you may never take that first step!
Emotional Resistance
If a task feels overwhelming or emotionally draining, our minds will find ways to avoid it. Putting it off until tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes, but procrastination the thief of time, keeps us thinking about it!
Lack of Alignment
Sometimes, procrastination is our inner wisdom nudging us to reevaluate our priorities. Is this the right path for us? This causes energetic blocks. Just as chakras can become blocked, our motivation can become stuck due to emotional, spiritual, or environmental influences.
The key is to recognize that procrastination the thief of time, isn’t the enemy—it’s a messenger. Instead of fighting it, let’s decode its message and transform it into momentum.
Life can throw us off balance. Sometimes, all it takes is a heartfelt reading to guide you back to yourself—and the clarity your soul craves.
5 Powerful Steps to Overcome Procrastination & Take Inspired Action
Ready to break the cycle? Here’s how you can shift your energy, clear resistance, and take that first step with confidence:
Acknowledge & Release the Resistance
- Instead of judging yourself, ask why you’re hesitating.
- Write down your thoughts: What’s holding me back? What am I afraid of?
- Recognizing your block is the first step to clearing it.
Start Small, And Start Now
- Don’t focus on the big picture—commit to one small step today.
- Example: Instead of “write a book,” start with “write one sentence”.
- Action, no matter how small, breaks the cycle of inaction.
Use Your Intuition to Find Alignment
- If you’re resisting something, is it truly right for you?
- Meditate or pull an Oracle card to gain clarity on whether this task aligns with your purpose.
Clear Your Energy & Space
- Declutter your environment—a messy space can block motivation.
- Use sage, palo santo, or crystals like Carnelian or Citrine to boost productivity.
- Play uplifting music to shift your frequency.
Call on Divine Guidance & Affirmations
- Ask Archangel Metatron to help you find focus and direction.
- Use affirmations like:
“I am taking action with confidence and ease.”
“I am releasing all fear and moving forward with clarity.”
“The universe supports me in every step I take.”

Why Procrastination Stops Success
Let’s examine why procrastination is holding you back and preventing you from enjoying the success you deserve. Are you stuck in fear of wondering if you have the skills to become successful?
Do you procrastinate due to a lack of confidence in yourself?
The only way to become confident or good at something is to roll up your sleeves and get started. Begin with a few minor tasks and gradually progress to larger ones. Just do something positive for yourself, as this will give you the confidence to try something else.
Why Creative People Often Procrastinate And How to Overcome It
If you’re a creative soul, you know the struggle. Your mind is bursting with brilliant ideas, yet somehow, you keep putting off actually getting started. Procrastination the thief of time, has you in its grip! The problem isn’t laziness or lack of ambition—it’s that there are too many possibilities! The creative brain is wired for exploration, imagination, and endless inspiration, but that same gift can make it difficult to focus on just one thing.
Sound familiar? Don’t worry—you’re not alone! The key is to turn your creativity into momentum by breaking through the decision paralysis that often comes with having too many options.
Step 1: Write It All Down—Yes, Everything!
Your mind is a whirlwind of ideas, but keeping them floating around only adds to the chaos. Grab a notebook (or your favorite app) and make a list of every creative project or idea that excites you. No need to filter or overthink—just brain-dump every possibility onto the page. Seeing your ideas in front of you is the first step to gaining clarity.
Step 2: Prioritize Like a Pro
Now, let’s bring order to the creative storm. Review your list and highlight the ideas that excite you the most. Which ones feel urgent, meaningful, or aligned with your current energy? Which ones have been sitting in your mind forever, waiting for the right moment?
Pro Tip: Don’t just choose based on what sounds fun—ask yourself:
Does this align with my bigger goals?
Will this project advance my creative or professional development?
Do I have the time and resources to commit to this now?
Step 3: The ‘What Could Go Right vs. What Could Go Wrong’ Method
Here’s where things get interesting! For each top idea, write its name on a piece of paper, then create two columns:
What Could Go RIGHT?
What Could Go WRONG?
As you start writing, you’ll quickly see patterns emerge. Some ideas might have tons of upside with minimal downside, making them clear winners. Others might feel excited but overwhelmed, meaning they might be better saved for later.
This method helps you:
See which ideas are worth pursuing NOW.
Identify potential obstacles and solutions.
Feel more confident about taking action.
Step 4: Take Inspired Action
Now that you’ve identified your #1 creative priority, it’s time to go for it! Start with one small, simple action—whether it’s outlining a plan, gathering materials, or setting aside time in your calendar. The hardest part is always starting, but once you do, momentum takes over!
Your Next Big Thing is Waiting—Get Started Today!
Creative people procrastinate because our minds are full of endless possibilities—but with the right approach, we can turn that energy into unstoppable momentum. So, take that first step now—write down your ideas, sort through them, and watch how quickly clarity and inspiration lead you to your next big success!
What’s the first action you’re going to take today? Let’s make it happen!

When You’re Looking for Something Perfect: You Might Procrastinate
We often procrastinate when looking for the perfect opportunity that may set the course of our lives and think about it again and again (excuse the pun). Life is about trying many different things until we find something that feels right to us, and that’s where success comes in. Thomas Edison decided he enjoyed figuring out how to invent things that made people’s lives easier.
He invented lots of things, including the light bulb, and he failed 999 times before finally succeeding in inventing a working light bulb. Thomas Edison kept trying because he enjoyed tinkering and inventing, and he knew he would eventually succeed. You can too!
When We Procrastinate
People who procrastinate tend to have great ideas and lots of talent but get stuck in thought. However, now is the perfect time to put your skills to work! But, wait, do you believe in your abilities? Is it a lack of confidence or choosing the right thing to do that holds you back? The mind games you play with yourself cost you far more energy and become the thief of your time than taking the first positive step forward.
Getting Ready to Forge Ahead
How do you learn to drive in a parked car? You don’t! You ask for help and take some lessons, and with practice, you become a good driver. It’s the same process for becoming successful in life. Ask for help with things you don’t feel confident doing on your own.
You can watch YouTube tutorial videos that will show you how to do what you want. You have to start somewhere, so what if you make some mistakes? We all do. It’s all part of the process. Please understand that we do some things wonderfully the first time, while we screw up others so beautifully, and have to do them several times before mastering them.
How to Stop Procrastination
The easiest method to stop procrastinating is to decide that now, at this moment, you’re going to pick something, anything, and do it! Don’t worry about if you’ll do it well, pick something and do it! Say the affirmation 3,2,1 procrastination is gone! Use this technique every time you feel stuck in thoughts, then do something easy, such as cleaning the kitchen or picking a room and discarding some old items.
Put some good music on while you’re working, as you can’t listen to upbeat music and procrastinate at the same time; it’s impossible! Remember, your Spirit guides and angels will help you every step of the way. Call upon them by saying, Angels, please help me move forward.
Procrastination: 6th Sense Connection Oracle Card Reading

Suppose you’re still undecided and have a deck of 6th Sense Connection Oracle Cards. Clear your mind and shuffle your cards, then ask yourself: What can I do today to overcome procrastination? Interestingly, I pulled card 43, The Emerg card, which means it’s time to take center stage in your life, so change your mindset and take action now. The card also means you’re ready to move out of the shadows and into the light, and your chrysalis phase is over. It’s the perfect time to take action, so choose something and go for it!
Don’t Let Procrastination Hold You Back
Have you been thinking about starting a business, getting a new job, working on yourself, or finding someone to love? Take whatever steps you can to bring positive changes into your life today. Focus on taking the steps and why you will succeed; this will help you stop overthinking and sabotaging yourself. Be flexible, go with the flow, and you will learn everything you need to know along the way. Your success is assured; go for it!
When The Procrastination Card Is You
When the procrastination card shows up as you in a reading, consider that every dream starts with wishful thinking! You decide when you will get started, which means taking action! Make a plan and follow it to bring your dreams into reality. Are you going to keep putting it off till tomorrow? It is time to stop overthinking and start doing.
Procrastination In A Work Position
You are in a rut with your current career path. Find a profession that feeds your soul. If you need more training or education, enrol now. Pull three more cards and ask yourself, how can I attract the right career path? Take action, save up, prepare, and take a leap of faith.
In A Family or Romantic Relationship Position
Something has to change; it is time to make some positive steps to help your relationship blossom and bring more happiness to your family. They feel you do not care enough when you fail to take proactive steps to help improve things. Perhaps you are doing too much, while your partner is doing too little. It can work both ways; that is why clarification is essential. Pull another three cards on this question and ask for the best course of action.
Affirmation and Crystals
3,2,1 Procrastination be gone! I am always in the right place at the right time and successful in all my endeavours
Crystals: Amethyst, Citrine, Tiger’s Eye, and Rubies. Wear or carry some of these stones, as they will help you maintain your creative and successful energy while grounding your practical energy, allowing you to experience a boost in drive and determination.
Reversed Card Meaning: Procrastination
You threw caution to the wind and rushed in where angels feared to tread. Remember not to be too hasty, as this can lead to making poor decisions and repeating past mistakes. Make two lists: the first list of why you should, and the second list of why it is a bad idea. The golden rule also comes into play. If it does not feel right, ask yourself why.
Pull three more cards and ask, What can I do to be in the right place at the right time and successful in my endeavours?
